8-13-19 Fishing Report – Limits of Trout
Fished straight out of port this morning started trolling south in 90-100 feet of water. We had action right away and it was steady all morning. The trout fishing is still rock solid and we were able to catch a limit. Wire divers with spin doctors and spin and glows were the best setup but also had a few good rips on a high diver with a spoon where we didn’t connect. Had 2 hits from big silver fish we were unable to land, but it was encouraging to at least get a few good bites. We managed one nice 14 pound king salmon that hit a spin and glow on a dipsy as we were letting it out. It was beautiful day to be on the water and the clients were happy! Perch Fishing Starting To Fire Up
The perch fishing out of South Haven is starting to pick up. They are available, but you must work a little bit to find them and stay on top of the school. We took out a group of eager kids and some family members and they had a blast catching a mess of perch including a couple reaching 13″. They left with smiles and a nice dinner 🙂
The schools seem to be scattered, but they can be found in 35-55 fow. Their location changes daily with the sporadic winds this time of year. Come into the shop located right off the highway or check out hoodoutdoors.com for the latest information and stock up on perch rigs and minnows for your next trip. We will do our best to make sure you get on top of the fish!

Lake Trout Fishing Remains Phenomenal, Kings Starting To Show
The Lake trout fishing has been phenomenal over the past few weeks out of South Haven and we foresee that continuing. We were lucky enough to take out 4 generations of fisherman today and they experienced the world class lake trout fishery that Lake Michigan has to offer by catching their limit.
We are still targeting the trout in anywhere from 80-120 fow and using the traditional methods of spin and glows behind flashers and targeting the bottom part of the water column. King salmon are starting to show up for the fall run and that should be picking up very soon. Call us today to book a trip with our South Haven Fishing Charters at (269) 680-7462 during these prime-time days.

King and Coho Salmon Are Still Around
6-22-19 – East Winds were howling to start off the trip, but they finally slowed down around 9am. Surface temps are still cold for this time of year and the best fishing was from 60-80 foot down using a variety of lures from Hood Outdoors.
It was hard to get a consistent troll with the waves, but once we found the right direction, the fish cooperated. We hit a double of kings on a 100 and 300 copper. Moonshine UV and Stinger UV spoons on the coppers were good.
There are still some coho around and they were snapping about 75 down on the riggers. The currents were very strong and getting the right speed was critical. One minute you were trolling at 3.2 mph at the ball and the next it would be 1.8mph. The warmer temps this week should change everything, but there are plenty of coho, kings, and lake trout to be had.
On our way back to their pier-heads we saw a few skamania steel-head being boated off the pier. This fishing should be good for the rest of the month. Book a trip with out South Haven fishing charters online to experience the great fishing this year!
